MIDDLE EAST: Jordan to host conference for women's empowerment, leadership

Presiding Bishop's statement at the conclusion of the 2008 Lambeth Conference

The reflections of the Presiding Bishop are just what we expect from someone in her position. Thank you, for the understanding of the Holy Spirit in this "trying" time for the Anglican Communion!  But you are right to describe this time as an unfolding of a new reality in the life of the Church.  Thank you for your inspired ministry as Presiding Bishop.

I wish the Church could get beyond "scripture slinging" at one another. It saddens me to see people using the Bible to fight one another and support their own views rather than using it as an instrument of peace and unity, to engage in Christian discussion, and to let it speak to peacefully transforming the world into what God has planned for us.
